Even as the founder of ProCakes and an advocate for healthy living I was not always healthy. At my heaviest, I was over 200lbs.  As a child, my time was spent in front of the TV, eating a steady stream of processed cheese and bologna sandwiches on white Kaiser buns, along with enough junk food to keep myself sugar laced for life.

It was not a quality life, but it was all I knew.

As a young adult I knew this wasn’t a practice I could continue. Not only did I feel bad most of the time, my poor health was already starting to limit opportunities in my life, and I didn’t want to fail in the world before I even had a chance to really start.

My evolution from overweight and unhealthy to the person I am today has been long and certainly not linear. I’ve had my share of challenges to overcome, an addictive personality to keep in check, and a litany of conflicting health information to wade through. I’ve worked with coaches, nutritionists and personal trainers and I’ve read more books than I care to admit. However, the best results have always come from the simplest things, like eating real food that I enjoy and that keeps me satiated so I’m not always thinking about my next meal.

For me, the key to eating a diet that’s healthy AND sustainable is to eat an appropriate amount of good fats and lean protein, while being smart about carbohydrates. ProCakes is the evolution of this eating philosophy. My vision is to build a company that provides real food solutions for people who care about what they eat and how that translates into the quality of life they live. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be difficult and it certainly doesn’t have to be boring. Our protein pancake mix is just the beginning. I can’t wait to share my passion for hunger crushing, awesome food with the world.
